Literature: Urry, Lisa A., et al. Campbell Biology. 12th ed., Pearson, 2021.
The oral exam will be assessed on a scale of 0–20 points. A minimum of 10 points is required to pass. Admission will be granted to candidates with the highest scores within the established limit of available places.
We encourage to start preparing in advance.

Genetics and Experimental Biology
Study what makes a real difference. Step into Genetics and Experimental Biology! Genetics and Experimental Biology is the first-cycle degree program that provides reliable and in-depth knowledge of biological processes at the cellular and molecular levels. During lectures and laboratories, you will find answers to all your most pressing questions. The emphasis on laboratory work will introduce you to modern techniques in genetic engineering, histology, cytology, and physiology, and will teach you how to operate specialized equipment You will also learn how to use molecular genetics data in biology, biochemistry, as well as in phylogenetic and environmental research.
Who is this program for?
If you are interested in understanding the mechanisms that govern what happens inside cells, if you want to know how genes determine the development and functioning of organisms, how transgenic organisms are created, and what lies at the root of genetic disorders — Genetics and Experimental Biology is the program you should choose.
How do we teach?
The Genetics and Experimental Biology program offers a wide range of teaching formats: from onsite laboratory sessions conducted in small groups to online classes using modern distance‑learning technologies.
This approach ensures that students gain practical skills essential for laboratory work, including the use of advanced research equipment of the highest quality.
Career paths
As a graduate of Genetics and Experimental Biology, and a specialist in this field, you will be able to work in:
- laboratories within the pharmaceutical and food industries,
- police forensic laboratories that use molecular biology techniques as well as cytological and histological analysis methods,
- analytical units focused on environmental protection, plant and animal breeding,
- research institutions employing modern methods of genetics and experimental biology,
Moreover, instruction in English will enable graduates to enhance employability and to fully participate in the international labour market and international scientific research.
What’s next?
After completing the Genetics and Experimental Biology studies (in English), graduates are prepared for the global labour market, are able to participate in various international research projects and to continue education in the second-cycle (Master’s) studies at the University of Wrocław or at other universities offering programs in the field of natural sciences.
